Western Power has lifted the allowable single-phase inverter size from 5 kVA to 10 kVA (with conditions) under the updated Basic Embedded Generator Connection Technical Requirements. This gives more headroom for modern PV + battery inverters.
Without a retailer offtake, many sites start with about 1.5 kW export. With offtake or Dynamic Operating Envelopes, exports can vary by network conditions. Your installer will confirm the approved limit on your connection.
For new or upgraded systems from 14 Feb 2022, WA can temporarily limit exports in rare emergency situations to protect grid stability. Consumer guides explain what this means for solar and batteries.
Commissioning note: On the SWIS, inverters are typically set to AS/NZS 4777.2 Region B with specific parameters — handled by your installer during commissioning (details are in the technical documentation they follow).
