1. Information we collect

When you use Solar Battery Perth, we may collect:

• Contact Information: Name, email, phone, suburb when requesting quotes
• Usage Data: Calculator inputs (daily usage, solar size, patterns)
• Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device info, pages visited
• Cookies: Used to improve experience and analyse usage

2. How we use your information

• Matching you with appropriate installer partners
• Providing calculator results and battery recommendations
• Sending requested information about batteries, rebates, and installers
• Improving our website, tools, and content
• Analysing usage patterns to enhance user experience

3. Information sharing

When you request quotes, we share your contact information with the installer or installers we match you with. Those installers pay us a flat referral fee for the introduction — that is how the service is free to you, and it does not change your price or who we match you with. We share your details with nobody else for payment, and we do not supply them to data brokers or list resellers.

Solar Battery AU is operated by an independent sole trader. The Solar Battery AU business is owned by WattMate Pty Ltd and runs on the WattMate platform; transfer of the business name to WattMate Pty Ltd is in progress. Quote requests and lead data you submit here are processed through WattMate's installer management platform (wattmate.com.au), where installer matching and lead distribution take place.

4. Third parties who process your data

We use the following service providers to run Solar Battery Perth. Each processes data on our behalf, only for the purpose described, under a data processing agreement:

• Supabase: Hosts our database and handles account authentication. Sees the data you submit (contact details, calculator inputs, quote requests)
• Resend: Delivers our transactional emails (verification codes, quote confirmations). Sees your email address and the content of emails sent to you
• Vercel: Hosts the website and provides Vercel Analytics, a cookieless, anonymized usage-statistics tool
• Twilio: Delivers SMS messages for phone number verification codes. Sees your phone number and the verification code sent to it
• Sentry: Error-monitoring tool that helps us diagnose technical faults. Personal information is masked before it reaches Sentry per our logging policy
• Google Analytics and Google Ads: With your cookie consent, we run GA4 and Google Ads tags to understand site usage and measure marketing performance. These load only after you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner

Microsoft Clarity is different from the providers above. It loads only after you accept analytics cookies. It records how pages are used (session replay and heatmaps); what you type into form fields is always masked, but other text shown on the page can be recorded. Microsoft receives this data outside Australia as an independent controller, not on our behalf, and may use it for its own purposes, including advertising profiles, and may set cookies it recognises on its other sites, as described in the Microsoft privacy statement. Declining, or withdrawing consent by clearing this site's cookies and stored data in your browser (the cookie banner then asks again), stops it.

Several of these providers, and Microsoft for Clarity, store or process data on servers outside Australia, most likely in the United States. That includes the AI processing of any bill or photo you upload, which is read by Anthropic's Claude models in the United States and is not used to train their models under our commercial terms. Sending your information overseas is a cross-border disclosure under Australian Privacy Principle 8, and we take reasonable steps so it continues to be handled consistently with this policy. For Clarity, that disclosure happens only with your consent, and Microsoft then handles the data under its own terms rather than this policy.

5. How long we keep it

• Quote requests: kept for 12 months after your enquiry, so we can resolve any dispute about what was quoted and by whom
• Account details: if you sign in, kept while your account is open and removed within 30 days of you closing it. Accounts are managed on the WattMate platform, which is where you close one
• Calculator and comparison inputs: held in your browser, not on our servers, unless you send them with an enquiry
• Analytics: Google Analytics reports are aggregated, with no identifier tying them back to you. Clarity session recordings are individual sessions held by Microsoft for the period in its own terms (see section 4)

You can ask us to delete what we hold sooner — see your rights below. Where we are required to keep a record (for example, a tax record of a referral fee), we keep only what the law requires and nothing more.

6. Your rights

Under Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion (subject to legal requirements)
• Opt-out of marketing communications
• Lodge a complaint with the OAIC

7. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies, Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Microsoft Clarity to understand site usage. For Clarity, Microsoft acts as an independent controller, not on our behalf (see section 4). These tags only load after you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner. To withdraw that consent, clear this site's cookies and stored data in your browser; the banner will ask again. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.

8. Decisions we make automatically

Some things happen without a person reviewing them one by one. Here is what software decides about you, and what it uses to decide.

• Which installer or installers receive your enquiry — using your postcode and suburb, the type of job you asked about, any brand you mentioned, and how complete your enquiry is. It is matched against installers who cover your area, offer that work, hold current accreditation and licensing with us, and have capacity. Among those, we rotate so one installer does not take every enquiry in a suburb, and installers with stronger review histories rank slightly higher.
• A quality score for your enquiry — using how much you told us — whether we have your name, email, phone, address, energy usage or bill details, and whether your phone number was verified. It sets how your enquiry is prioritised and reported internally.
• The figures in any assessment or report we produce for you — using your usage, bill, roof and appliance details, run through the same published Western Australian assumptions for every customer — sunlight hours, tariffs, rebate rules and equipment pricing.

Your score does not change what an installer pays. Every lead is the same flat referral fee, so a more detailed enquiry never costs them more, and we have nothing to gain from scoring you higher.

Where you upload a bill or a photo, AI reads the figures off it. It does not decide anything — the numbers it extracts feed the same calculations as figures typed in by hand, and you can correct them before anything is sent.

We do not make automated decisions about your credit, your eligibility for a rebate, or anything that could deny you a service. Rebate eligibility is a published rule applied to what you told us, and we show you the reasoning.

If you think an automated decision got something wrong — the wrong installer, the wrong figures, or an enquiry that went nowhere — email admin@wattmate.com.au and a person will look at it and can redo it manually.
