Enphase IQ8 takes a microinverter approach: each panel runs its own inverter rather than feeding a single central unit. Output is optimised, monitored, and reported at the panel level. IQ8 microinverters are grid-forming, so the array can produce daytime power without a grid reference signal. Paired with the Envoy gateway, this enables the Sunlight Backup feature: the system keeps running during a daylight grid outage even with no battery attached. For Perth roofs, panel-level conversion removes a central single point of failure and handles partial shading more independently than a string inverter. The inverter warranty is 25 years, and Enphase runs an Australian office for local support.
