The WA Battery Scheme pays $130 per kWh on the first 10 kWh, capped at $1,300. Capacities under 5 kWh receive nothing, and every capacity from 10 kWh up receives the same $1,300 — a larger battery does not earn a larger rebate. Whether a particular product qualifies also depends on it being Synergy-approved.

The Powerwall 3 is Tesla's third-generation home battery. Released in 2024, it delivers 13.5kWh of usable capacity at 11.5kW continuous output, a 185% increase in continuous power over the Powerwall 2. The integrated solar inverter accepts direct string connections (up to 20A), so a separate solar inverter is not required for new installations. Whole-home backup is supported, with grid-outage detection in around 20 milliseconds and an automatic transition to battery. Tesla pushes over-the-air updates that add features after installation, including time-of-use optimisation and Powerwall Share peer-to-peer energy trading in selected markets. The Tesla app shows real-time energy flow. For Perth installations, the LFP chemistry and wider operating range (-20°C to 50°C) handle hot weather better than the NMC-based Powerwall 2. The integrated inverter means existing solar systems need a compatibility check before any upgrade.
