New batteries entering Australia in 2026: what Perth buyers should know
Australia's battery market is growing fast, and new brands are entering it with lower prices and new features. Here are four worth watching, and how they compare with established options from Tesla, BYD, and Sungrow.
Energy-lib homestack
Energy-LIB has launched the HomeStack for the Australian market. The stackable design covers configurations from 16 kWh up to 48 kWh, which is a wide range. The launch price of $4,999, available until April 30, 2026, is low for that capacity, and it suits Perth homeowners who want a large system without paying a premium.
The system uses LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry, the same technology used in Tesla, BYD, and most modern home batteries. Before buying, Perth homeowners should check the CEC listing status and whether the product qualifies for the WA Residential Battery Scheme.
Ecoflow powerocean
EcoFlow, known for its portable power stations, has entered the home battery market with the PowerOcean. It is now CEC-listed for Australia, and it carries a 15-year warranty — five years longer than the 10-year industry standard. The system is rated for 6,000 cycles to 70% capacity.
The modular design scales from 5 kWh to 45 kWh, with an integrated hybrid inverter option that simplifies installation. EcoFlow's app is well developed from its portable product line, with detailed monitoring and energy management.
Fox ess cq6
Fox ESS has launched the CQ6, a compact high-voltage stackable battery starting at 5.99 kWh and expandable up to 48 kWh. The high-voltage architecture improves efficiency and allows for thinner cabling — a practical advantage for Perth installations where battery location relative to the switchboard matters.
Fox ESS already has a strong presence in the Australian inverter market, so service and support networks are established. The CQ6's competitive pricing and modular approach make it a credible alternative to Sungrow's SBR series and BYD's Premium range.
Sigenergy
Sigenergy offers an integrated hybrid inverter and battery system with a clean industrial design. Starting from approximately $10,999 installed, the system targets homeowners who want an all-in-one solution similar to Tesla's approach but with modular upgrade capability.
The Sigenergy system allows additional battery modules to be added over time without replacing the inverter — a significant advantage for homeowners who want to start small and expand as their energy needs grow or as prices drop further.
How they compare with established brands
The new entrants are competing directly with established players:
- vs Tesla Powerwall 3: Most offer modular scalability that the fixed-size Powerwall lacks, at lower price points. However, Tesla's brand recognition, app ecosystem, and 11.5 kW output remain differentiators.
- vs BYD Premium: Similar modular approaches with comparable LFP chemistry. EcoFlow's 15-year warranty exceeds BYD's standard 10-year offering.
- vs Sungrow SBR: Fox ESS CQ6 competes most directly with Sungrow on architecture and pricing. Sungrow's established Australian support network is an advantage for now.
Perth buyer considerations
Before choosing a new brand, Perth homeowners should verify:
- CEC listing: Required for STC rebate eligibility. Check the Clean Energy Council's approved product list.
- SSL approval: Only batteries on Synergy's Supported Solutions List qualify for the WA state rebate, interest-free loan, and Battery Rewards VPP.
- Australian support: Verify the brand has local service partners and warranty support in Perth.
- Installer experience: Ask your installer how many units they've installed of the specific model — newer products may have a steeper learning curve.
Our take
More competition helps Perth buyers. These entrants are lowering prices and adding features. EcoFlow's 15-year warranty and Energy-LIB's low launch price both stand out. Before committing, check the SSL and CEC approval status — the WA rebates can save thousands, and they only apply to listed products.
