Not every battery qualifies for WA's state rebate. This guide explains Synergy's Supported Solutions List, which manufacturers are approved, which popular brands are missing, and how to make sure your purchase is eligible before you commit.
The Supported Solutions List (SSL) is Synergy's official register of inverters and battery energy storage systems approved for participation in Western Australian energy programs. Synergy maintains the list to ensure that only products meeting their technical, safety, and communication requirements can access WA state incentives.
The SSL is distinct from the Clean Energy Council (CEC) approved products list. While CEC approval is required for any grid-connected installation in Australia, SSL approval is an additional WA-specific requirement that covers communication protocols, VPP compatibility, and remote management capabilities.
Manufacturers must apply to Synergy, pass technical evaluation, and demonstrate that their products can be remotely monitored and dispatched for virtual power plant events. Products that pass are added to the SSL and become eligible for state programs.
Choosing a battery that is not on the SSL means losing access to several thousand dollars in WA-specific benefits. Here is what is at stake:
Up to $$1,300
$$130 per kWh of usable capacity, capped at 10 kWh. Applied as a point-of-sale discount through your installer. Only SSL-listed products qualify.
$200–$500+/year
Earn credits by allowing Synergy to dispatch your battery during peak grid events (typically 15–25 times per year). SSL registration is mandatory for participation.
Up to $10,000
Available to households with combined income under $210,000. Repaid over up to 10 years with no interest. Must install an SSL-approved system and join Battery Rewards.
Peak Export Bonus
Synergy's Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme rewards battery exports during peak demand windows (3pm–9pm). SSL systems can be optimised for maximum DEBS earnings.
Combined value: Over a 10-year battery lifespan, an SSL-approved system can deliver $3,000–$7,000 more in total benefits compared to a non-SSL alternative. The upfront rebate alone often covers 10–15% of the total system cost. See our full WA rebate guide for detailed eligibility requirements.
The following manufacturers have products on the Synergy SSL. The list currently includes 29 manufacturers, 80+ product series, and 487+ individual inverter and battery models.

The SSL also includes products from 20+ other manufacturers:
Not all models from each manufacturer are SSL-approved. Always verify the specific model number against the current list.
Several well-known battery brands are not currently on the Synergy SSL. This is important to understand before purchasing, as it directly affects your access to WA state incentives.
Tesla Powerwall — Not on SSL
Despite being one of the most recognised battery brands globally, Tesla Powerwall is not listed on the Synergy SSL. This means Tesla Powerwall does not qualify for the WA state battery rebate ($$1,300), Synergy Battery Rewards VPP, or the interest-free loan. Tesla has its own VPP program but it does not provide the same state-backed benefits.
BYD — Not on SSL
BYD batteries (including the popular HVS and HVM series) are CEC-approved and widely installed across Australia but are not currently on the Synergy SSL. Homeowners choosing BYD will miss out on WA state rebate benefits.
Enphase — Not on SSL
Enphase IQ Batteries use a microinverter-based AC-coupled architecture. While popular in eastern states, Enphase batteries are not currently on the Synergy SSL and therefore do not qualify for WA state incentives.
Federal rebates still apply
Brands not on the SSL still qualify for federal Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) rebates, which provide approximately a 30% discount on the system cost. The STC scheme is Australia-wide and does not depend on SSL status. However, these homeowners miss out on the additional WA-specific benefits listed above.
Before committing to a purchase, verify that the exact model you are considering is on the SSL. Brand-level approval is not enough — individual model numbers must be listed.
Browse our battery catalogue
Our battery catalogue lists all CEC-approved batteries. WA rebate eligibility depends on pairing your battery with an SSL-approved inverter — check the official Synergy SSL document for approved inverter models.
Check the official Synergy website
Synergy publishes the current SSL as a downloadable document on their website. Search for “Supported Solutions List” on synergy.net.au for the most up-to-date version. The list is updated periodically as new products are approved.
Ask your installer to confirm SSL status before purchase
Your CEC-accredited installer should be familiar with the SSL and can confirm whether a specific model is eligible. Get this confirmation in writing as part of your quote. Reputable installers will proactively flag SSL status when quoting WA customers.
Under the framework in force since 1 May 2026, all new products submitted for SSL inclusion must demonstrate compliance with CSIP-AUS (Common Smart Inverter Profile — Australia). This is a national communication standard developed by the Australian Energy Market Commission to enable interoperability between distributed energy resources and network operators.
CSIP-AUS ensures that batteries can respond to remote signals from Synergy and Western Power, enabling coordinated charging and discharging during grid events. For homeowners, this means better VPP performance and future-proofed compatibility as WA's energy market evolves.
What this means for buyers
Products already on the SSL as of March 2026 remain eligible regardless of CSIP-AUS status. The requirement applies to new submissions from May 2026 onwards. If you are purchasing in early 2026, most currently listed products will work fine. For purchases later in 2026, look for products that explicitly mention CSIP-AUS compliance in their specifications.
Both AC-coupled and DC-coupled systems can be found on the SSL, but there are important differences in how each type qualifies:
For a deeper comparison, see our AC-coupled vs DC-coupled batteries guide.
Choosing an SSL-approved battery is the first step. To get the most out of your investment, combine the state rebate with complementary programs and optimise your system configuration:
Stack federal and state rebates
Federal STCs plus the $$1,300 WA rebate can reduce your upfront cost by $4,500–$6,000 on a typical 10–13 kWh system. See our WA rebate guide for full details.
Enrol in Synergy Battery Rewards
VPP participation is required for the rebate, but it also generates $200–$500+ per year in bill credits. Read our Battery Rewards VPP guide to understand how dispatch events work and what earnings to expect.
Optimise for DEBS peak exports
Configure your battery to discharge during the 3pm–9pm peak window when DEBS export rates are highest. This maximises the value of every kWh stored.
Size your battery correctly
An oversized battery wastes money; an undersized one leaves savings on the table. Use our savings calculator to model your specific usage pattern and find the right capacity.
Consider the interest-free loan
If your household income is under $210,000, the $10,000 interest-free loan dramatically improves cash flow. The battery often pays for itself through energy savings before the loan is fully repaid.
Browse our catalogue filtered to only show WA rebate eligible systems, or use the calculator to estimate your total savings including rebates, VPP earnings, and energy bill reductions.
The Synergy Supported Solutions List (SSL) is a register of inverters and battery systems approved for participation in WA energy programs. Only products on this list qualify for the WA state battery rebate ($130/kWh up to $1,300), Synergy Battery Rewards VPP, and interest-free loans up to $10,000.
No, Tesla Powerwall is not currently listed on the Synergy Supported Solutions List. This means Tesla Powerwall does not qualify for the WA state battery rebate or Synergy Battery Rewards VPP. However, Tesla Powerwall still qualifies for federal STC rebates (approximately 30% discount).
As of March 2026, the Synergy SSL includes products from 29 manufacturers, covering 80+ product series and 487+ individual battery and inverter models. The list is regularly updated as new products are tested and approved.
Yes. The federal Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) rebate is separate from the WA state programs. Any CEC-approved battery qualifies for STCs regardless of SSL status. However, you will miss out on the additional $1,300 WA state rebate, VPP earnings, and interest-free loan access.
CSIP-AUS (Common Smart Inverter Profile - Australia) is a communication standard that allows energy providers to coordinate with home batteries during grid events. From May 2026, new SSL submissions must demonstrate CSIP-AUS compliance. This ensures batteries can participate effectively in VPP programs and grid stabilisation.
You can check SSL status in two ways: check the official Synergy website for the current SSL document (which lists approved inverters, not batteries), or ask your CEC-accredited installer to confirm SSL compatibility for your chosen battery and inverter pairing before you purchase.
Some AC-coupled battery systems are on the SSL, but they face additional requirements. The battery's built-in inverter must be separately listed, and the system must meet Synergy's communication and control requirements. DC-coupled systems with a listed hybrid inverter tend to have simpler SSL compliance.
If your battery was on the SSL at the time of purchase and installation, your rebate and VPP eligibility are generally preserved. Synergy does not retroactively revoke benefits for systems that were compliant at installation. However, future firmware updates may be required to maintain VPP participation.
