The Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) scheme provides upfront rebates for eligible solar battery installations. Maximum capacity: 50kWh. Capacity tapers apply above 14kWh under the framework in force since 1 May 2026.
*Based on 6.8 STCs/kWh (May–Dec 2026, the current factor) at ~$39.9/STC. Tapering: 100% for 5–14 kWh, 60% for 14–28 kWh, 15% for 28–50 kWh. Batteries over 14kWh see 40–85% reductions.

Combined savings: $4,931 (30% discount) - both rebates claimed together
The WA State and Federal rebate schemes are completely separate programs with different criteria and caps. Importantly, you can claim both rebates on the same battery installation.
Maximum Combined Benefit (Jan-Apr 2026):
For a 10kWh battery: Up to $2,713 (Federal) + $1,300 (WA State) = $4,013 total rebate
Most residential batteries are 10-13kWh. WA state rebate caps at $1,300 (10kWh). Federal STCs vary by size and timing.

The STC rebate is typically applied automatically by your installer, reducing your upfront cost.
Important Note:
Most installers handle the entire STC rebate process on your behalf. The rebate value is deducted from your final invoice, meaning you pay less upfront. Always confirm this with your installer before signing any contracts.
